The Netronome Flow Engine (NFE) family of multi-gigabit PCIe interface cards enables the acceleration of network and security applications in a highly scalable manner. Featuring high-performance packet processing delivered from multiple microengine cores, the NFEs utilize several techniques to improve network I/O workloads, including deep packet inspection and classification, flow analysis, load-balancing flows to multiple CPU cores to parallelize application processing, and zero-copy libpcap library support.
Available in a range of price and performance configurations, the NFE family of accelerator cards is targeted for use in networking, security, deep packet inspection and test & measurement solutions. The PCI-Express cards are an ideal platform for vendors looking to accelerate network and application performance while reducing design time, complexity and cost.
Netronome Flow Engine NFE-i8000
The NFE-i8000 is the highest-performing acceleration NIC in the NFE family. Based on the IXP-2855 NPU with 16 microengine cores, the NFE-i8000 can improve server and appliance performance by providing line rate flow processing and deep packet inspection over four ports of Gigabit Ethernet. The NFE-i8000 can dramatically increase the performance of network security appliances with the most stringent applications in the most difficult environments.

Netronome Flow Engine NFE-i4010
To account for the varied performance, power and cost requirements in the product lines of ISVs and network appliance manufacturers, the low-end NFE-i4010 offers an NFE-i8000 software-compatible solution based on the IXP-2805 NPU and reduced memory for low-end and mid-range designs.

Load Balancing Interface Modules
To support environments requiring high Gigabit Ethernet port densities and 10 Gigabit Ethernet support, the Netronome Load Balancing Interface Modules (LBIMs) are designed to provide additional interface options to the NFE family of Acceleration Cards. The LBIM modules are available in 12x1GigE RJ-45 interfaces or 4x10GigE SFP+ interfaces. They include load-balancing hardware and integrated fail-to-wire support for high availability in passive and in-line solutions. The Load-Balancing Interface Modules are supported in the Intel® NSC2U, a high-performance, IA-based server platform.

Netronome SSL Inspector™ Transparent SSL Proxy
The Netronome SSL Inspector Appliance™ is the industry’s highest-performance transparent proxy for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) network communications, providing existing sniffing, recording and filtering security appliances with access to the decrypted plaintext of SSL-encrypted flows. This provides assurance that common threats, such as spam, spyware and viruses, data theft and other forms of cyber crime, are identified inside SSL flows that previously could not be examined by installed network and security appliances. Network appliance manufacturers now have a mechanism to provide their security applications with visibility into both SSL and non-SSL network traffic that also increase their application performance.
