EMBEDDED LEADER TEJA TECHNOLOGIES TEAMS WITH NETRONOME SYSTEMS TO FURTHER EXPAND INTO IXP
Teja NP Software Platform to Support the Netronome NFE-i8000, an Intel® IXP2855-Based Network Accelerator Card.
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Teja Technologies Inc., a leading supplier of network processor software, today announced a partnership with Netronome Systems, Inc., a leading provider of deep packet inspection, content flow and virtual machine technologies, enabling its award-winning software platform for the Intel® network processor (NPU) product line, Teja NP, to support and interoperate with the Netronome Flow Engine (NFE-i8000). As a result of its alliance with Teja, OEMs using Netronome’s board and Teja NP will be able to design, test and ship high-performance networking products in considerably less time compared with the alternative of hand-coding software for the NFE-i8000’s on-board NPU.
The NFE-i8000 is a network acceleration co-processor based on the Intel IXP2855 with 4 Gbps Ethernet ports and an Intel IXCP210 PKI accelerator that enables new IXP2855 designs while also accelerating existing IXP2400/2800 designs. Netronome's zero copy drivers and PCI Express acceleration enable the NFE-i8000 to provide high bandwidth, low latency coupling between the host IA/x86 system and the IXP2855.
Teja NP facilitates integration of third-party hardware and software components that complement Intel network processors used by Netronome. By utilizing both Teja and Netronome’s products, OEMs will be able to leverage applications developed with the familiar C-based standard to design, test and ship carrier-class networking products that deliver multi-Gbps wirespeed performance in considerably less time than methods based on proprietary languages.
“With Teja NP, our customers are able to significantly reduce development costs and bring more products to market with fewer resources,” stated Niel Viljoen, CEO of Netronome Systems, Inc. “Our customers’ experience with Teja tools on existing IXP designs makes it important that these tools work well on the NFE-i8000 card. Combining the Teja tools with the Netronome Flow Driver (NFD) enables customers to fully benefit from the tight NPU/CPU coupling across PCI Express and from Teja's unique approach to acceleration.”
Teja NP enables network system designers to define a complete system’s application logic in a C-based model that is independent of the specific Intel network processor and board configuration. By assigning these modular logic components to hardware elements on a specific target, optimized production code for the target system is automatically generated. Reusing applications across generations of network processors or across multiple products only requires reassigning the application logic to the resources of the new target chip or board – alternate methods typically require a manual code rewrite. Together, the NFE-i8000 and Teja NP allow OEMs to reuse the same application code base across various product lines and easily migrate to future generations of processors.
“Systems OEMs are realizing that in order to keep costs low and speed time to market, they need to focus their development efforts on their unique value-add,” stated David Stepner, Teja Technologies’ president and CEO. “The combination of the NFE-i8000 hardware and Teja NP software gives OEMs a powerful pre-integrated platform, while providing developers with the tools to customize and optimize the performance of their designs in minimal time.”
Teja and Netronome will be hosting a joint webcast on October 17, 2006, at 11:00 AM Pacific Time, to provide an in-depth look at their technologies. More information and registration are available at http://seminar2.techonline.com/s/tejagr7_oct1706.
