Agilio Performance, Explained

By Robert Truesdell | Mar 25, 2016

In many of the discussions I have with potential Agilio users and customers, the following question frequently comes up: “What is different about the Agilio platform and architecture that allow it to outperform other server-based networking solutions?” In networking, and especially in stateful networking, thread capacity is king. To drive high packet rates in networking applications, a high degree of parallelism through multi-threading is required.

Using Real-Time Programmable Analytics to Build Smarter and More Secure Networks

By Robert Truesdell | Mar 10, 2016

Lately, the server-based networking discussion has been heavily focused on performance gains associated with offload to SmartNICs such as the Agilio CX from Netronome. This is an important topic and the discussion should continue, but I also think it’s important that we do not lose sight of another important aspect to offloading server-based networking, and that is the ability to drastically increase the networking capabilities possible at the edge of the network. With expanding CPU processing capacity combined with increasingly SmartNICs for networking, some amazing features can be implemented on the server that improve visibility, performance, security, and scalability.

Netronome and Juniper are Accelerating Open Contrail vRouter at MWC

By Robert Truesdell | Feb 19, 2016

Here at Netronome, we are gearing up for an exciting week at Mobile World Congress, hosted in Barcelona on February 22-26. One activity that we are particularly excited about is the demonstration of Netronome’s Agilio CX SmartNIC and Agilio vRouter software inside the Juniper booth, which will highlight our ongoing collaboration with Juniper to provide an accelerated vRouter data plane for the Open Contrail system. In addition, a performance demonstration that boasts a vRouter data path capacity of 27Mpps for VNF service chaining, a 6X improvement over software-only vRouter, will be on display in Netronome’s hospitality suite (2N17MR, Hall 2).
