The Netronome Open Source Community

To foster open source development and research of server-based networking, Netronome utilizes multiple open source venues such as openvswitch.org, kernel.org, dpdk.org, p4.org, openstack.org and others. Network datapath programming is an integral part of server-based networking and Netronome supports and maintains the code repository and development portal www.Open-NFP.org for this purpose.

Netronome in Open Source Projects

Host software drivers and Open vSwitch-related patches in the Agilio Software product are open-sourced and available both from the Netronome GitHub directories and www.Open-NFP.org. Agilio Software drivers are up-streamed for inclusion in Linux kernel and user space modules at www.kernel.org and www.dpdk.org. Netronome makes significant contributions to the Open vSwitch community at www.openvswitch.org.

Introduction to the Open-NFP Community

Netronome enables multiple programming models for its Agilio family of intelligent server adapters through active contributions to the open source community. The www.Open-NFP.org web site offers reference system designs, tools and software for academic research and open source software development related to host-based networking.

Academic and Research Programs

Netronome supports a broad set of well-known universities across the world for research projects related to host based networking, utilizing its Agilio family of intelligent server adapters. For details, please visit www.Open-NFP.org/projects

Netronome in Standards

Netronome is actively involved in the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) regarding Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Netronome has co-authored an ETSI Work item on vSwitch requirements and benchmarking known as IFA003. Netronome also participates in the Open Networking Foundation (ONF). The ONF is a user-driven organization dedicated to the promotion and adoption of software-defined networking (SDN) through open standards development. Netronome is active in multiple working groups defining the OpenFlow specification.
