NFE-3240 Family Appliance Adapters

Netronome® NFE-3240 Appliance Adapters are designed for networking and security appliances that require high-performance flow processing for network-port-to-network-port traffic. These PCIe adapters are ideal for use with x86-based appliances. Available in 2-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 6-port Gigabit Ethernet options, the NFE-3240 SmartNICs provide up to 20Gb/s of line-rate programmable packet and flow processing per card. The following SmartNIC configurations are supported:

Benchmarks

The NFE-3240 Family of Appliance Adapters is used in a variety of service node networking and security applications. These networking appliances are powered by Netronome SmartNICs and software, accelerating standard x86 COTS servers. Netronome supports service node applications including Intrusion Detection (IDS), Intrusion Prevention (IPS), Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Lawful Intercept (LI), Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS), and SSL inspection solutions. In each of these applications, Netronome-powered applications have proven to be industry leading, providing customers the highest-performance solutions on the market.

These results are supported by real-world benchmarks tests conducted by respected third-party vendors specializing in testing high-touch service node applications including throughput, latency, number of connections, setup rates, price, five-year TCO, and security effectiveness. Netronome’s solutions were the basis of the number-one rated IPS and NGFW products in the industry. Shown below are testing benchmarks showing the performance improvement achieved with a Netronome-based product architecture when compared to vendor alternatives for a next-generation firewall. The results show that Netronome-powered solutions beat competitive architectures in providing leading performance and security effectiveness in an x86 based COTS solution, while also providing superior TCO.
